ADDING TO THE BASKET

As you add a product to the basket you have various options available to you.

Price

If you have the Production module you will see the price that you calculated in the costing feature to act as a 'recommended' price.  You will also see the price that you charged the last time you sold the product.  You can change the price if you want.

Stock Available

Once again, if you have the Production module you will see the stock available based on what you have produced.  Otherwise, you can update the stock available as and when necessary.

Stock Alert Level

This useful feature is optional.  If you set a level of stock here you will be alerted if you would drop below this level when you make the sale.  It will also set up a task, which you will see later, advising you that it is time to make some more of this product.

Quantity Being Sold

If you exceed the amount of stock available, perhaps with the intention to send out the product later, you will be warned and task will be set up to remind you about the shortfall.

CUSTOMERS

At the checkout you can, optionally, specify the customer, who is buying the products.  If it is a new customer you can also add a new customer or update details if they are an existing customers.

You can add a customer into the customer loyalty scheme, if they are a new customer.  If they an existing customer then you will see how much they have spent to date and what level they have reached in the loyalty scheme.

If you are using the Tasks feature then the email and or the telephone number will be required.

OPTIONS AT CHECKOUT

The receipt/invoice will be displayed.  On the right hand side you select the payment method.

An option is there allowing you to give a discount at this stage if, for example, one of the products is damaged.  Or you can simply decide to give the customer a discount on the sale.

If you are sending out the order, you will be asked to check the address and a task will be created to remind you do this later.

The 'Cash In Hand' option, whilst not strictly proper, will still reduce the stock levels but no financial information about the sale will be recorded.

COMPLETING THE SALE

The option is there to show the customer their receipt.  It is it presented on a 'clean' screen allowing, for example, for the customer to take a picture on their phone.

If you have printer attached, you could print the invoice/receipt, but following the 'paperless office' principle behind Companion it is automatically stored in your document library.

You can set up a task to remind you to phone or email the customer at a later stage.
