CHOOSING BASE OILS AND BUTTERS, LYE CALCULATOR, PROPERTIES AND DATA SHEETS

SETTING UP THE PARAMETERS FOR YOUR RECIPE
Start a new recipe or retrieve a recipe, from your library, that would be a good basis for your new product. Change some parameters and ingredients and you're ready to go.

Cosmetic Companion is already on the lookout for choices that may effect getting through the assessment process. In the UK and EU, you cannot simply specify factors, just because other calculators allow you to do it.

Also, whether or not you are producing elsewhere in the world, these are all factors that keep your customers safe.
THE LYE CALCULATOR AND PROPERTIES OF THE SOAP
As the oils are selected the evolving properties of the soap are shown graphically. Lye and water (or water substitutes) are calculated. For Hot or Cold soap recipes there is a built in warning of the risk of 'Dreaded Orange Spot (DOS)' occurring in the finished soap.

PROPERTIES, COSTS AND DATA SHEETS FOR OILS AND BUTTERS
When selecting oils and butters the individual properties are displayed on the left of the screen. If oils are required to enhance specific properties in the soap, clicking on the radio buttons will show the oils (in a descending sequence) that give this this quality to the soap. Additionally, a cost factor is shown, which may well be a factor in the choice made and this again can be used to show the oils (in a low to high) sequence.

As oils are highlighted a data sheet for that oils is also displayed. This information can also be very useful in the selection of oils and butters.
